Tourism villages are vanguards for accelerating the economic recovery of rural communities if promoted well, Minister of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration Abdul Halim Iskandar has said.
“This tourist village that we are visiting has become one of the icons, the vanguard for efforts to accelerate the village’s economic recovery,” the minister said during a visit to the Mangunan Skyline Tourism Village, Bantul District, Yogyakarta on Friday.
For that reason, his ministry is committed to supporting the revival of tourism villages affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, he said.
“We should promote and strive so that all tourism villages in Indonesia are known not only in the country but all over the world,” he remarked.
The minister affirmed that in the near future, his ministry will launch an android application promoting tourism villages across Indonesia, initiated and managed by his ministry.
“Later, people who want to visit tourism villages can access the application first. In the application, there are tourism villages throughout Indonesia with the promotions, photos so that they will attract not only Indonesian tourists but also abroad,” he informed.
The management of tourism villages under the coordination of the Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) must be strengthened and they must be registered as legal entities and verified by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, as was done by Mangunan Bantul BUMDes, he added.
“BUMDes in Bantul are already in the process of being processed at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, BUMDes that are verified as having entered the Kemendes PDTT application will soon receive a legal entity number, and all BUMDes will move to accelerate the economic recovery in villages,” the minister said.
During the visit, Iskandar announced assistance for the development of tourism objects for the Mangunan Skyline Tourism Village and inaugurated BUMDes administrators from several villages in Bantul.
