The Visit of Jumling Team of IPB to Petir Village

Jumling (Jum’at Keliling = Friday Tour) team of Institut Pertanian Bogor (Bogor Agricultural University) visited Kampung Babakan Gang Salak, Petir village, Dramaga District, Bogor Regency, on Friday, 26 August 2016. “We’ve been waiting for Jumling team of Institut Pertanian Bogor in our village. Thank God, today we have been given opportunity to meet and interact directly with the executive boards of IPB, “said Chairman of RW. 02, Mr. Sobari

Similarly, the village secretary of Petir village, Mr. Ugis, said that Jumling team of Institut Pertanian Bogor had been highly anticipated by the village residents of Petir village. Jumling team of Institut Pertanian Bogor, he said, has been very helpful for people, especially farmers and perpetrators of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

“The existence of IPB as the community development partner should be appreciated and should be utilized as the good opportunity to motivate the youths and kids to learn and to make achievement in their education. How happy parents of such village to see their kids pursue their higher degree of education in the leading University. The youth from outside Bogor, even in the outer part of Indonesia come to Bogor to pursue their study to IPB, it is the high-time for the young generations of the campus perimeter to study at IPB, “he stated.

Chairman of the present Jumling team of Institut Pertanian Bogor was the Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology (FATETA IPB), Prof. Kudang Boro Seminar, expressed his happiness to meet the communities of villages around the campus. Based on the refreshments they prepared for the team it seems that has Petir village has a lot of agricultural potential. The communities served the team with any products originally from their own village, such as cassava, maize and panuts. Accordingly, the partnership with IPB will enable them develop their potentiality of Petir village to improve the community welfares.

On this occasion Prof. Kudang advised the communities to encourage their kids and the youth to learn a lots. “Petir villagers is the IPB partner. Therefore, their children should be able to pursue their study or to be admitted into IPB. The most important of all, they should study and work hard, “he said.

Items of the program for the present Jumling team of Institut Pertanian Bogor were the socialization Program Pusat Pelayanan Keluarga Sejahtera (PPKS Program Service Center for Family Welfare) by Agrianita IPB, free health services by the team of doctors Dompet Dhuafa, donations to 20 orphans, provision of medical equipment for Posyandu, and Koran for Masjid Al-Hikmah. The present Jumling team of Institut Pertanian Bogor consisted of representatives of P2SDM-LPPM IPB (Center for Human Resources Development) of the Institute of Research and Community Empowerment of IPB (LPPM)), Drs. Suhaemi, MM and Warcito, SP, MM, members of Agrianita IPB and internship lecturers from various regions. (Wied)
