Bangkok: The Teachers Council has ordered the suspension of a Teachers Council legal officer following the emergence of a leaked audio clip. The clip allegedly features the officer threatening a school deputy director against appealing a decision related to corruption in the Half-Half and We Travel Together projects. In response, the Council has established a committee to thoroughly investigate the situation and consider serious disciplinary action. According to Thai News Agency, the controversy stems from an audio recording in which a legal officer from the Teachers Council Secretariat was heard discussing the appeal of an unethical conduct decision with a school deputy director. The conversation reportedly involved threats aimed at dissuading the deputy director from pursuing an appeal. Asst. Prof. Dr. Amolwan Wirathammo, Secretary-General of the Teachers Council, confirmed that the Secretariat is fully aware of the incident. An official investigation into the facts has been initiated, leading to the form ation of a serious disciplinary investigation committee. The legal officer in question was suspended on November 4, 2024, pending the outcome of the investigation. The case relates to allegations of professional misconduct by certain educational professionals, linked to media reports from 2021 regarding corruption within the Half-Half project and the We Travel Together project. These matters are currently involved in the appeals process. The Teachers Council has emphasized its commitment to handling the situation with due diligence, ensuring that the legal process is followed, and justice is served for all parties involved.
