Jakarta (ANTARA) – State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Minister Erick Thohir has said that his ministry will rearrange a number of facilities owned by some state-run enterprises following a fire at PT Pertamina’s Plumpang Integrated Fuel Terminal.”The location (of the fuel terminal) is too close to community (settlements), it is what we want to rezone, (and) rearrange,” he informed at a press conference at South RawabadakVillage, KojaSub-district, North Jakarta, on Saturday.
He made the statement after accompanying Vice President Ma’ruf Amin to meet the people affected by the disaster, which burnt some parts of state-run oil and gas company Pertamina’s facility as well as surrounding settlements.
The rearrangement will be carried out at a number of facilities belonging to Pertamina, state-owned electricity provider PT PLN, as well as state-run fertilizer manufacturer PT Pupuk Sriwidjaja, the minister informed.
He said that the attempt is aimed at improving the buffer zone between the safe zone of the facilities and surrounding community settlements.
Pertamina will immediately find solutions for the damaged residential areas around the Plumpang Integrated Fuel Terminal, Thohir added.
“The Vice President (Ma’ruf Amin) has asked Pelindo (a state-owned port operator) and Pertamina to find a solution for the (rearrangement of the fuel terminal) area,” he said.
During the visit on Saturday, Vice President Ma’ruf Amin suggested that Pertamina’s fuel terminal be relocated to one of Pelindo’s port areas.
He emphasized that the security of the fuel terminal, which is one of the vital objects in Jakarta, should be maintained well.
“We expect this area will become better and safer, as well as be able to meet the (safety) requirements,” Amin added.
The fire at Plumpang Integrated Fuel Terminal broke out around 8:10 p.m. Western Indonesian Standard Time (WIB) on Friday (March 3, 2023).
ccording to the latest data received from the Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), the fire claimed 17 lives and left 49 persons seriously injured and 2 persons moderately injured.
The injured victims were taken to Koja Hospital, Tugu Hospital, Mulyasari Hospital, Jakarta Pelabuhan Hospital, and Firdaus Hospital.
