The resumption of Singapore Airlines (SQ) flights to Bali will bolster Indonesia’s accessibility for international tourists, deputy for marketing at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Nia Niscaya, has said.
“This is also expected to increase opportunities for stakeholders to encourage the national economy through the tourism sector,” she observed in a written statement released on Wednesday.
Since the Indonesian government decided to open the Bali border for foreign tourists, Singapore Airlines has become the first foreign airline to fly to Indonesia, she noted.
An SQ flight departed from Singapore’s Changi International Airport in Singapore on February 16, 2022, at 9.05 a.m. local time and arrived at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Bali International Airport at 11.56 a.m. local time, she said.
It carried 156 passengers, consisting of 109 foreign citizens and 47 Indonesian citizens, she added.
SQ’s arrival in Bali is the result of strong collaboration between the airline, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, the Bali regional government, the Ministry of Transportation, and other related parties, Niscaya said.
“Singapore Airlines will operate seven flights a week between Singapore and Bali. We hope this flight can accommodate travelers’ needs,” she informed.
Further, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy hopes that this momentum would boost economic revival and create more job opportunities not only in Bali, but in all regions in Indonesia, she said.
Upon arrival in Bali, international travelers are being offered a warm-up vacation package (hotel quarantine under a bubble system), she said.
The package allows international travellers to undergo quarantine outside hotel rooms and carry out various activities in the bubble area specially prepared by hotel managers, she added.
“The warm-up vacation program is being carried out in hotels with a bubble system according to the health protocols,” Niscaya remarked.
General manager of Indonesia, Singapore Airlines, Alvin Seah, lauded the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, the Directorate General of Air Transportation, State-Owned Airport Operator Angkasa Pura, and the Bali regional government for supporting the reactivation of Singapore Airlines flights to Bali.
“We hope that the situation in Indonesia will continue to improve and remain under control so that the tourism industry can recover,” Seah said.
For the Singapore-Bali route, Singapore Airlines will deploy Boeing B787-10 aircraft with a seating capacity of 337 passengers, consisting of 36 Business Class seats and 301 Economy Class seats, he informed.
