SAR agency readies personnel at tourist attractions in Ternate

The National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) of Ternate, North Maluku, readied personnel and patrol vehicles at all tourist attractions to provide comfort and security to people during the 2022 Eid al-Fitr holiday.

Head of Ternate Basarnas Muhammad Arafah informed ANTARA here on Tuesday that as many as 10 personnel were deployed to tourist attractions on a daily basis during the Eid period.

Moreover, other personnel were readied to conduct patrolling at the port and airport.

Overall, the Ternate Basarnas alerted 75 personnel to provide services during the homecoming and reverse flow period at the Tobelo search and rescue (SAR post, Bacan SAR alert unit, Morotai SAR alert unit, and Sanana SAR alert unit.

According to Arafah, the special SAR alert for the 2022 Eid was implemented in a different manner as compared to the previous year as the government had allowed people to join the Eid homecoming exodus by still implementing strict COVID-19 health protocols.

Meanwhile, based on observations, hundreds of residents of the area and its surroundings have visited the Tanjung Jikomalamo Beach and Sulamadaha Beach in Ternate during Eid.

One of the visitors on Jikomalamo Beach, Asril Mustafa, admitted that he and his family had been staying at the villa provided on Tanjung Jikomalamo Beach since morning on Tuesday, the day after Eid.

“We arrived early at the beach tourist attraction one day after Eid al-Fitr because it is predicted that on the last day of the Eid collective leave days, visitors would be flocking to tourist attractions, especially on Jikolamao Beach and Sulamadaha Beach,” Mustafa noted.

For the 2022 Eid al-Fitr, the Indonesian government decided the collective leave days for the Eid al-Fitr period to be on April 29 and on May 4-6, 2022.
