PT Inalum intensifies commitment to community by launching programs

Medan, North Sumatra (ANTARA) – PT Inalum (Persero), as one of the state-owned enterprises, has continued to deepen its commitment to caring for the community by starting varied programs in tune with the interests of citizens.

PT Indonesia Asahan Alumunium Executive Advisor (Inalum) Oggy A. Kosasih remarked in Medan on Saturday that numerous humanitarian programs were regularly implemented as a concrete demonstration of concern for the community.

Last year, PT Inalum had implemented routine programs including free medical treatment, repair of boreholes, construction of integrated health post (posyandu), furniture assistance, and educational facilities for schools around the company as in the earlier years.

“PT Inalum has also conducted repair of 148 houses around the company’s area,” he pointed out.

Moreover, PT Inalum’s support for the youth was also apparent from the training of security officers for 20 youth and youth volleyball tournaments around the company.

For supporting creative industries around the company, PT Inalum has conducted training for fostered partners and the manufacturing of leather craft products.

“In terms of SME development, Inalum, through a partnership program last year, had channeled loan funds to 43 small and medium businesses around smelters and hydropower plants,” he noted.

As part of its nature preservation initiative, Inalum, along with PT Inhutani IV (Persero) and non-governmental organizations, conducted reforestation by planting 415,913 trees in 727 hectares of critical land around the Lake Toba Watershed.

Inalum also contributed to efforts to lowering the burden of victims of natural disasters by becoming one of the coordinating SOEs that partook in handling natural disasters in North Sumatra and its adjoining areas.

“It has participated in handling natural disasters, such as the Mount Sinabung eruption, flash floods and landslides in Southeast Aceh, and flash floods in Solok, West Sumatra, as well as extended fire and tornado assistance in Batubara District and earthquake assistance in Palu, Donggala, and Lombok,” he pointed out.
