Bangkok: The Prime Minister has called on the National Peacekeeping Council to expedite the reopening of transportation routes in the lower southern region of Thailand. This includes both road and rail systems. The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has announced that train services from Bangkok to Hat Yai have resumed as of this morning.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Jirayu Huangsap, an advisor to the Prime Minister and spokesperson for the Operation Center for Flood, Storm and Landslide Relief Operations, stated that the Prime Minister has directed the Ministry of Transport’s agencies to promptly address travel disruptions. The SRT Safety Center reported that repairs on the flood-damaged southern railway section in Phatthalung Province, specifically between Khuan Khiam-Han Thao Station and Han Thao-Khok Sai Station, are complete. Consequently, services to Hat Yai Junction Station resumed last night. Express Train No. 169 and Special Express Train Nos. 31 and 37 are now operational from Krungthep Aphiwat
Station to Yala, commencing this morning.
Mr. Chirayu further explained that Special Express Train No. 32, traveling from Hat Yai to Bangkok, is now operational between Hat Yai Junction Station and Krungthep Aphiwat Station. The SRT also reported that Special Train No. 38, which runs from Su-ngai Kolok District to Bangkok, is available from Hat Yai Junction to Bangkok, with the Su-ngai Kolok to Hat Yai section expected to reopen by tomorrow. This coincides with a public holiday. Additional services in the southern region have been adjusted as follows:
Special Express Train No. 45 runs from Bangkok Aphiwat to Padang Besar, and No. 46 from Padang Besar to Bangkok. Express Train No. 170 starts from Hat Yai Junction to Bangkok, while No. 171 operates from Krungthep Aphiwat to Hat Yai Junction. Local train services have also been adjusted to start or end at Hat Yai Junction, with various lines gradually resuming full operations. Civil engineering teams are actively repairing roads between Hat Yai Junction Statio
n and Yala, aiming to reopen the entire route soon. Progress updates will be provided as repairs continue.
