President, vice president attend Eid prayers at different locations

Jakarta Celebrating the post-fasting Lebaran festivities, President JokoWidodo (Jokowi) and Vice President JusufKalla attended the Eid al-Fitr, or Lebaran prayer service at different locations on Friday.

President Jokowi was present at the Lebaran prayer service held at the Astrid square in the Bogor Botanic Garden, while Vice President Kalla was present at the Istiqlal grand mosque in Jakarta.

Indonesian Muslims celebrated the post-fasting Lebaran festivities on Friday and Saturday, pending the official announcement of the government on Thursday evening.

At the Bogor Botanic Garden in West Java, President Jokowi performed the Eid prayers along with Minister/State Secretary Pratikno, Social Affairs Minister IdrusMarham, Religious Affairs Minister Lukman Hakim Saifudin, Siliwangi Military Commander Major General BesarHarto, West Java Police Chief Inspector General Agung Budi Maryoto, and some two thousand worshipers.

At Jakartas Istiqlal mosque, the largest in Southeast Asia, Vice President Kalla performed the Eid prayers along with Peoples Consultative Assembly Chairman ZulkifliHasan, Jakarta Governor AniesBaswedan, other state officials, and thousands of other worshipers.

In his Eid sermon at the Istiqlal mosque, Abdullah Gymnastiar, better known as AA Gym, invited all Indonesian people to be honest as part of the wisdom of the Ramadan fasting month that has just ended.

From Indonesia, hundreds of thousands of people embark on hajj pilgrimage to the holy land of Mecca every year, but according to AA Gym, only a few of them are honest.

He opined that the honest are the happiest people, while the dishonest ones will continue to hide behind their masks of dishonesty.

“However, what gain is it for those hiding behind their beautiful mask of dishonesty if they continue to do nasty and rotten acts, such as corruption,” AA Gym noted.

Hence, in his Eid sermon, he again invited all components of the nation to be honest and remain committed to following the path of honesty all through their lives.
