President Jokowi attends National Children’s Day 2017

Pekanbaru, Riau (ANTARA News) – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and First Lady Iriana attended the National Childrens Day 2017 in Pekanbaru, Riau Province, on Sunday.

Arrived at the Pauhjanggi building here at 8 a.m. Western Indonesia Standard Time (WIB), the president and the first lady were greeted with an attraction and a number of traditional games performed by Riau children.

Themed “Child Protection Begins with the Family” with the main message “I am Indonesian Child, I am Happy”, the peak event of the National Childrens Day 2017 was attended by some 3,000 children from every province in Indonesia.

Also present at the peak event of the National Children’s Day were some cabinet ministers such as Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Minister Yohana Yembise, Coordinating Minister for Culture and Human Development Puan Maharani, Minister/Cabinet Secretary Pratikno, Riau Governor Arsyadjuliandi Rachman, and Jakarta Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat.

The National Childrens Day this year emphasized on the importance of the awareness of Indonesian families to raise children. The family is the beginning of the formation of individual maturity and the personality structure of a child.

The National Children Day has been commemorated since 1986, based on Presidential Decree No. 44 in 1984.
