President addresses hundreds of national health insurance beneficiaries

Jakarta (ANTARA News) – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) stated while addressing hundreds of representatives of beneficiaries of the National Health Insurance (JKN) here on Wednesday that availing health services should not be a complicated process for the community.

“Two of the most important points for me is that (first), people in need of healthcare services should not be deprived of them,” the president remarked at a gathering with 255 representatives of beneficiaries of JKN and the Indonesia Health Card (KIS) at the state palace.

Jokowi noted that the second area of concern was that health agencies should not complicate the process for people keen to avail healthcare services.

He also asserted that the government will continue to evaluate the process of offering medical services in health institutions.

On the occasion, the government also gave away awards to four provinces, 28 cities, and 92 districts that have used JKN-KIS, with the recipient representatives being from the provinces of DKI Jakarta, Gorontalo, West Papua, and Aceh; the districts of Badung and Luwu Timur; and the cities of Cirebon and Padang Panjang.

The president handed over the awards to representatives of the local governments.

The number of participants of the JKN System until May 18, 2018, had reached 197,644,315 people.

The event with representatives of beneficiaries of the JKN and KIS was attended by Health Minister Nila F. Moeloek, among others.
