Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita has said that worker training centers owned by the ministry are ready to support the normalized Pre-Employment Card Program, which will be hosted offline.
“We have Industry Ministry offices, we have vocational centers, educational centers, there are so many of them, and we have 19 polytechnics in Indonesia. So, the point is that the education infrastructure at the Industry Ministry is ready to support the Pre-Employment Card program,” he informed after a conference, which was accessed from here on Thursday.
Business actors who wish to conduct training for their employees can also work with the program so that the training location can be provided to the company hosting the program.
The Pre-Employment Card program is also expected to improve workers’ skills to enable them to work both domestically and overseas.
“Later on, participants can become workers to fill job vacancies overseas because right now, the demand is very high. So, we have to prepare Indonesian human resources so that we have the criteria needed by the global job market,” he said.
According to Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, the program will continue under the normal scheme and will no longer be a part of the semi-social assistance scheme.
To adjust to the scheme, the government has added Rp1.7 trillion to the initial budget of Rp2.67 trillion for the program, since the number of participants is targeted to increase to 1 million.
In 2022, the realization of the Pre-Employment Card budget reached Rp17.84 trillion for 4,984,790 participants, or 99.12 percent of the budget target of Rp18 trillion.
