PM Set to Attend Ayeyarwady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Forum in China Before APEC Summit in Peru.

Bangkok: The Prime Minister is scheduled to participate in the Ayeyarwady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy Leaders' Forum in China tomorrow, marking a significant diplomatic endeavor before heading to Los Angeles for the APEC Summit in Peru, which will take place from November 10 to 18. According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Jirayu Huangsap, the spokesman for the Prime Minister's Office, announced that the Cabinet has approved a central budget for the 2024 flood-affected farmers' rehabilitation project. The budget totals 2,553 million baht and is proposed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives for eight projects. These initiatives include occupational rehabilitation after the flood, agricultural land rehabilitation, agricultural machinery repair, and debt reduction for agricultural institutions and cooperative groups. During the announcement, the Prime Minister also addressed the status of public debt, noting that Thailand's public debt stands at 11,728,149.060 million baht, or 64.02% o f GDP, which remains within the fiscal management framework and under the 70% threshold. Mr. Jirayu further disclosed that from November 6 to 7, 2024, the Prime Minister, accompanied by Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Mr. Marist Sengiampong, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Chulaphan Amornvivat, Deputy Minister of Finance, will travel to Kunming, China. The visit aims to attend the 10th Ayeyarwady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy Leaders' Meeting, focusing on issues such as cross-border crime, tourism, agricultural energy, and transportation connectivity among countries. Mr. Jirayu also mentioned that following the China visit, the Prime Minister will proceed to Los Angeles before attending the 31st APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting and related meetings in Lima, Peru, from November 10 to 18, 2024.
