Bangkok: "Phumtham" accelerates discussions on humanitarian assistance for 9 evacuation centers after the US cuts health budget. Mr. Phumtham Vejjayachai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, addressed the challenges posed by the recent policy of U.S. President Donald Trump. The policy involves cutting medical expenses for immigrants, affecting camps along the Thai-Myanmar border.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Phumtham revealed that discussions have been initiated with Malaysia regarding the U.S. policy changes. These changes present a challenge for ASEAN, requiring a collective approach to adapt to the evolving situation. The focus is on how ASEAN can effectively respond to the budget cuts impacting immigrant health services.

Mr. Phumtham emphasized the importance of addressing humanitarian assistance in the nine refugee centers along the Thai-Myanmar border. He stressed that resolving the issues caused by the U.S. budget cuts over the next 90 days is critical. Collaborative discussions are necessary to ensure that humanitarian aid continues to reach those in need.
