NEC Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. (NEC APAC) and LAC Co., Ltd. (LAC) today announced that they have formed a strategic alliance to promote cybersecurity in the Asia Pacific region.
A direct result of this partnership is the introduction of a fully automated managed security service targeted at small and medium enterprises (SME) in 2019. Delivered directly from the cloud, this low-cost and scalable managed security solution provides round-the-clock monitoring and surveillance of IT infrastructure, including enterprise level firewall and IDS/IPS, at an OPEX pricing model.
In addition, both companies will jointly offer a hands-on training service to help customers improve cybersecurity awareness in organizations and equip in-house cybersecurity experts with necessary skills and capabilities, such as malware analysis, incident response, intrusion detection, digital forensics and vulnerability assessment.
This partnership also allows NEC APAC to reinforce its existing Security Operation Centre (SOC) capabilities with LAC’s market-leading cyber threat intelligence and dedicated team of analysts to offer comprehensive incident response services for customers in Asia Pacific.
Mr. Job Chan, Vice President, Managed Service Business Unit, NEC APAC said, A recent report* revealed that 66% of SMEs in Singapore are not aware of all the cyber threats they face. In fact, 56% of them have experienced a cyber incident in the past year and 32% are not aware which data files were affected. With cyberattacks getting increasingly pervasive and sophisticated, the lack of awareness and readiness when facing a potential cyber incident is most concerning.
Of late, there has been an increase in demand from customers, both big and small, to enhance their scale of cybersecurity coverage. This partnership with LAC, a leading security provider in Japan with extensive tracking record with both public and private sectors, will boost NEC’s capabilities and help safeguard customers from cyberattacks. We are committed to building safer and more reliable cyberspace through innovative cybersecurity solutions for the Asia Pacific market, added Mr. Chan.
NEC’s expertise and know-how of the region is the key to this partnership, said Mr. Osamu Saito, Director, LAC. Our new, high-quality and affordable cybersecurity monitoring service based on the existing LAC Falcon(R) is customized for businesses in Asia Pacific. It is a culmination of LAC’s know-how and expertise from decades of operating its Japan Security Operation Centre (JSOC(R)), and incident response and management services.
We are eager to share our expertise and knowledge in combatting cyber threats and support businesses of all sizes together with NEC, added Mr. Saito.
NEC’s managed security services have been selected by government agencies and enterprises, including critical information infrastructure operators, while LAC serves more than 920 organizations through its JSOC(R). Singapore-based NEC Asia Pacific (NEC APAC) is the regional headquarters for NEC Corporation (HQ: Japan) in the Asia Pacific region (South and Southeast Asia and Oceania).
