The Ministry of Investment has issued nearly 2.5 million business identification numbers (NIBs) through the Online Single Submission (OSS) platform as of October 2022.
“The realization as of October almost reached 2.5 million NIBs. The target is 3 million NIBs this year,” Investment Minister/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia informed after an NIB issuance event here on Thursday.
Through the risk-based OSS system, the issuance of NIBs to micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) can now be carried out easily, quickly, and free of charge.
Nevertheless, there are still obstacles to the issuance of NIBs for companies with high risk, such as problems related to detailed spatial planning (RDTR) and building approval (PBG), the minister noted.
Although the government has provided alternative solutions for issues involving RDTR and PBG, the business licensing service system is being improved gradually, he said.
“Then again, it is an application. In one year, it has to integrate 79 laws and ministerial regulations; it is not easy. We are slowly improving (it),” he added.
Minister Lahadalia said that currently, the ease of investment in Indonesia is continuing to improve compared to ASEAN countries.
In fact, Indonesia has scored just one point less than Singapore in terms of reforms for easing investment in the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) report. As per the report, Singapore has scored 19 points and Indonesia 18 points.
This is the effect of the Job Creation Law that has led to a fundamental change and a large space for businesses, he said.
During Thursday’s event, State-Owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir emphasized the government’s commitment to pushing MSMEs to develop and level up, including by encouraging the business legality of MSMEs through NIB issuance.
In addition, Thohir also emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting MSMEs in various fields, including funding.
