Most Jakarta’s COVID-19 patients died in hospital: Deputy Governor

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Deaths or fatalities reported among COVID-19 patients in Jakarta were generally in various referral hospitals in the capital, particularly when the figure surpassed 100 people a day.

“In about two weeks, the deaths (of COVID-19 patients) in Jakarta reached more than 100 per day,” Deputy Governor of Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria stated at the Jakarta City Hall on Wednesday.

The death rate is in fact decreasing as compared to above 200 people a day in the previous week, with the majority of some 70 percent occurring at hospitals.

According to Patria, the decline occurred significantly in line with the decrease in bed occupancy rate (BOR) in isolation rooms and intensive care rooms (ICU) at COVID-19 hospitals.

He noted that currently, the BOR for isolation rooms and ICU at COVID-19 hospitals only reached some 50 percent and 76 percent. “We are optimistic of another drop in the BOR in the following days. May all the efforts of related stakeholders and our public in handling the pandemic yield success,” he noted.
