Ministry organizes exhibition to promote downstream chemical industry

The exhibition plays a significant role in the development of the downstream chemical industry in Indonesia.

Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Industry Ministry displayed products of the national downstream chemical industry at an exhibition held on Sept 10-13 to promote the country’s capabilities in the sector.

“The exhibition plays a significant role in the development of the downstream chemical industry in Indonesia,” the ministry’s acting Director General of Chemical, Pharmaceutical, and Textile Industry Abdul Rochim remarked at the opening of the expo here on Tuesday.

Rochim noted that the downstream chemical industry, particularly of lubricants, cleaners, paints, and light fire extinguishers, will require comprehensive support of all stakeholders.

The exhibition is expected to promote and share information on the national industry’s capability to produce qualified downstream chemical products through the application of advanced technology.

Director of the Downstream Chemical Industry Taufik Bawazier affirmed that the downstream chemical industry can be divided into the three main products of rubber and plastic; pharmaceutical, cosmetic and traditional medicines; and other downstream chemical products including lubricant, paint, cleanser, light fire extinguisher, room fragrance, and adhesive material.

Bawazier remarked that the last group of products will be showcased at the exhibition.

A total of 37 businessmen will take part in the expo. Some 11 participants are from the lubricant industry, 15 in the paint industry, three participants in the light fire extinguisher industry, and eight participants in the cleanser industry.

Two producers’ associations participating in the expo were the Association of Household Healthcare Supplies (Pekerti) and Association of Indonesian Detergent Producers (Apedi), which has set up two booths at the event.
