The Transportation Office of Jakarta engineered the traffic flow at the construction site of the MRT Phase II on the Glodok-Kota Station route on Gajah Mada, Hayam Wuruk, and Pintu Besar Selatan Avenue.
“I advise road users to avoid these (three) roads and adjust to the traffic rearrangements,” Head of the Jakarta Transportation Office Syafrin Liputo stated here on Friday.
Liputo noted that traffic at the construction site from the front of LTC Glodok to the Kota Tua Intersection will be engineered from September 1 to December 31, 2021.
Traffic will be engineered at the MRT Kota Station from September 1 to October 31, 2021, with stage zero at the working site, which starts on Pintu Besar Selatan Avenue’s sidewalk, he explained. He said the completed work comprised the preparation of fencing, relocation of utilities and waterways, relocation of police posts, pre-construction surveys, and widening of roads.
For the Glodok MRT Station segment, traffic will be engineered from September 20 to December 31, 2021. The Stage 1 segment at the working site on the Gajah Mada Avenue and Hayam Wuruk Avenue is in the median of the middle of the road and park, he expounded.
For the stage 1 segment, there will be fencing preparation, test pit, relocation of utilities, cutting and relocation of trees, demolition of medians and sidewalks, construction of crossing bridges for people, and TransJakarta bus stops, Liputo pointed out. As a result, the original four lanes will be reduced to only one, and the single TransJakarta line will be shifted to four lanes for mixed traffic that follow along with the working sites.
He added that the safety and security of road users, both vehicle drivers and pedestrians at the working site, is the responsibility of the working site operator, Sumitomo Mitsui Construction Company – Hutama Karya (SMCC-HK).
