Investigate antigen test kit waste case in Bali Strait: Legislator

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar (Gus Muhaimin) urged the police and related office to investigate the finding of antigen test kit waste in Bali Strait.

“I urged the police to investigate this case to completion. It is very dangerous, not just for humans but also for the fish and coral reefs,” he noted through a statement on Thursday.

Based on the finding of waste of thousands of antigen test kit along the shore of Bali Strait, Gus Muhaimin suspected that an irresponsible party was intentionally behind the disposal.

“At a glance, it seems like it was intentionally dumped into the ocean,” he remarked.

Moreover, he encouraged the Ministry of Health and health services in various regions to stringently penalize health service facilities that are proven to have incorrectly disposed the antigen test kit waste.

This action could be taken by revoking the operation permit of the health service facilities that are proven to be involved in this case.

Gus Muhaimin opined that incorrect disposal of the antigen test kit waste is no less dangerous than COVID-19.

Hence, this necessitates preventive steps and stringent actions by the police and related parties against the parties that intentionally dispose such waste.

“I stress that this should be investigated. Find out who did it and take stringent action,” he remarked.

The findings of the antigen kit waste came to light following the surfacing of two viral videos on social media within the last couple of days.

The first 30-second video showed thousands of antigen test cotton buds floating in the Bali Strait.

Meanwhile, the second video showed several antigen test devices that were disposed and burned at the edge of the beach.
