Indonesia’s national swimming team bagged six gold, two silver, and seven bronze medals at the Major Games Qualifiers (MGQ) 2023 held at OCBC Aquatic Centre, Singapore, on November 23-26, 2022.
The Indonesian Swimming Association (PRSI) sent young swimmers to compete at the event.
According to PRSI’s statement here on Sunday, the swimmers of the national training camp (pelatnas) showed an improvement as they recorded 19 personal best times.
Of the six gold medals, one was bagged by Andi Muhammad Nurriska in the men’s 200m breaststroke event with a time of 2 minutes 18.68 seconds.
Then, two gold medals were bagged by Adellia in the women’s 200m breaststroke event with a time of 2 minutes 35.90 seconds and the women’s 100m breaststroke event with a time of 1 minute 11.99 seconds.
Izzy Dwi Faiva Herfrusyanthi secured the gold medal in the women’s 1500m freestyle with a time of 17 minutes 39.67 seconds.
The 13-year-old Michelle Sujadi Fang bagged gold in the women’s 400m medley with a time of 5 minutes 10.98 seconds.
Lastly, Nicholas Karel Subagyo clinched the gold in the men’s 1500 freestyle with a time of 15 minutes 55.97 seconds, his best time so far.
As for the two silver medals, one was bagged by Adellia in the women’s 50m breaststroke (33.21 seconds), and the other one was bagged by Ni Putu Pande Lisa Primasari in the women’s 200m backstroke (2 minutes 25.24 seconds).
Meanwhile, of the total seven bronze medals, two were secured by Nicholas Karel Subagyo in the men’s 800m freestyle (8 minutes 15.69 seconds) and the men’s 200m freestyle (1 minute 52.66 seconds).
Then, Andi Muhammad Nurrizka secured two bronze medals: one in the men’s 100m breaststroke (1 minute 3.15 seconds) and the other one in the men’s 50m breaststroke (30.47 seconds).
Ni Putu Pande Lisa Primasari bagged bronze in the women’s 50m backstroke (30.74 seconds), Izzy Dwi Faiva Herfrisyanthi bagged bronze in women’s 800m freestyle (9 minutes 17.69 seconds), and S. Malikil Alliim bagged bronze in the men’s 200m butterfly (2 minutes 5.71 seconds).
Next, Indonesian swimmers will participate in two last events in 2022, namely the Indonesia Aquatic Championship 2022 at the Aquatic Stadium, Gelora Bung Karno Sports Complex, Jakarta, and the SEA Age Group Swimming Championship in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on December 17-19, 2022.
