Indonesia must be confident in ability to become developed: Widodo

Jakarta Indonesia must be confident in its ability to become a developed nation and come on par with high-income countries, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has said.

“(We) must be convinced in (our) own ability. Once again, we must be convinced in our own ability, self-confident, and optimistic,” he stressed while addressing thousands of his supporters at the United Nusantara gathering at Bung Karno Main Stadium (GBK) here on Saturday.

During the G20 Summit in Bali on November 15–16, 2022, Indonesia proved that it is capable of standing on par with large countries, he said.

“We must be self-confident and optimistic…we are a large country which is looking forward to becoming a developed nation,” he added.

To that end, the Indonesian nation must work hard and tirelessly, without giving up and complaining easily, he said.

In his political oration, the former Solo mayor prayed for a glorious Indonesia.

It is reasonable to say that every human being  has shortcomings. Moreover, the COVID-19 pandemic and the global recession have affected the country.

He promised to address the shortcomings for the benefit of Indonesia’s advancement.

He said he has not fully achieved what have become his ideals. Therefore, it is necessary to harmonize visions and missions for the country’s future.

“Continue what has been on the right track. Once again, glory for our country,” he remarked.
