We have to develop and realize it (the IKN) according to the determined direction,” Director General of Housing at the ministry Iwan Suprijanto said at a seminar on TOD here on Thursday. TOD is an urban development concept, which eases people’s mobility from their residence to their workplace. Hence, one of the key performance indicators (KPI) of the development of the IKN is that it must ensure that people’s workplaces and public areas are only a 10-minute walk from their homes, he said. “Thus, we have to conduct the spatial planning of the IKN with the TOD concept as its guidance,” he added. The construction of the IKN, which is located in North Penajam Paser District, East Kalimantan Province, must be based on the new concept so that potential development problems can be mitigated, Suprijanto said.
