ICW President chairs 35th general assembly

Yogyakarta (ANTARA News) – President of the International Council of Women (ICW) Kim Jung-sook chaired a meeting of the ICW board of directors at the Grand Inna Hotel, Malioboro, here on Tuesday.

At the meeting, which is part of the programs of the ICWs 35th General Assembly and National Meeting of One Thousand Indonesian Womens Organizations, being held from September 11 to 20, 2018, the ICWs BODs discussed their general assemblys preparation.

They discussed the preparedness of the ICWs presidential candidates who will lead the organization for the next three years.

According to Head of the Indonesian Womens Congress Foreign Network Section Hadriani Uli Silalahi, the mechanism of appointing the new ICW President will be conducted through an acclamation process.

She said the BODs set up the final preparation for each agenda.

Attended by four ICWs vice presidents, namely Elisabeth Newman of Australia, Doris Bingley (Malta), Lina Liu (Taiwan), and Christine Knock (New Zealand), the meeting also discussed the main theme that would be raised during the event.

The ICWs 35th General Assembly picks a theme of “Transforming Society Through Womens Empowerment”. The meeting also considered to raise a new theme for the event.

“We always choose a theme that will be set as the main focus,” Uli said.
