Health Ministry to send 13,000 Sinovac vaccines to Riau Islands

Tanjungpinang (ANTARA) – The Indonesian Ministry of Health is scheduled to dispatch 13 thousand Sinovac vaccines to Riau Islands province on Tuesday (January 5, 2020), an official said in Tanjungpinang on Monday.

Provincial Secretary Tengku Said Arif Fadillah said on Monday that the vaccines will be transported by Lion Air’s fleet from the Soekarno Hatta Airport in Greater Jakarta area to the Tanjungpinang Raja Haji Fisabilillah Airport in the provincial capital.

The shots will be stored in cold storage at a pharmaceutical facility located near the Tanjungpinang General Hospital.

The vaccines will be distributed to medical and health workers, who total 12 thousand in number, after a technical procedure. Fadillah said he hopes for the shots to be administered by the beginning of February.

“The rest of one thousand shots will also be distributed to vulnerable groups,” he added.

The total number of vaccines set for the province by the government is 25 thousand shots, 12 thousand of which are expected to arrive this month, he informed.
