Green Campus Program of IPB Touched the Distribution of Sacrificial Meat

Al-Hurriyyah Mosque of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) on this Idul Adha 1437 cut 74 sacrificial animals, consisting of 4 cows, 70 goats and sheep. The cutting activity took place in the Campus of IPB Darmaga, Monday (12/9).

In contrast to the distribution of the sacrificial meat in general which commonly used the plastic bag, the distribution of the sacrificial animal meat which had been cut in Al-Hurriyyah Mosque of IPB used the banana leaf basket. The sacrificial meat which was placed in the leaf basket was considered to be more hygienic compared to be placed in the plastic bag. As presented by the Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH) of IPB, Prof.Dr.drh. Srihadi Agungpriyono, when meeting with the residents of Purwasari Village, Dramaga Sub-distrct, Bogor District on the activity of the Friday Tour of IPB, Friday (9/9).

Similar thing was delivered by the Head of Bureau of Law, Promotion and Public Relations (Bureau of HPH) of IPB, Ir. Yatri Indah Kusumastuti, M.Si, who called the distribution of the safrificial animal meat in Al-Hurriyyah Mosque of IPB by using the leave in harmony with the commitment of IPB applying the Green Campus, which was to reduce the use of the plastic packaging.

Meanwhile, the Vice Dean of Resource, Cooperation and Development of FKH of IPB, Dr.drh. Trioso Purnawarman, conveyed that the halal element in the animal slaughter would be fulfilled when the slaughter was carried out in accordance with the Islamic Shari’a. “The other thing we need to consider is the health of meat which would be distributed to the community must meet the criteria of ASUH that is safe, healthy, intact, and halal,” he said.(dh)
