Government to dissolve three inactive SOEs

State-owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir will soon dissolve three state-owned enterprises (SOEs) that stopped operating since a long time ago.

“There are three SOEs we will soon (dissolve) and then several other SOEs that will be under state-owned holding company, PT Danareksa Investment Management (Danareksa PPA),” he said at an online press conference in Jakarta on Thursday.

The three SOEs are Kertas Kraft Aceh, PT IGLAS, and Industri Sandang Nusantara. Kertas Kraft Aceh stopped operating from 2008, PT IGLAS 2015, and Industri Sandang Nusantara from 2018.

The three SOEs will be dissolved pending the issuance of a government regulation in June 2022, the minister informed.

He said the ministry must give certainty to settle the issue properly. “It is obvious (the three) companies no longer operate. Alhamdulillah (Thank God), I praise Danareksa and PT PPA, which have settled the rights of 429 IGLAS employees in September 2021,” he said.

As the agency given the responsibility and mandate for the task, the SOEs Ministry will also settle the question of Kertas Kraft Aceh and Industri Sandang Nusantara properly, he said.

“But it is worth noting that reducing the number (of employees) does not amount to downsizing the corporation. As I have said, the corporation is downsized, but its net profit increases. That is what we will encourage. InsyaAllah (God willing), we will maintain the mandate,” he added.

Meanwhile, PT PPA President Director Yadi Jaya Ruchand said the planned dissolution of the three SOEs had been agreed upon at the general meeting of shareholders.
