Bangkok: A former member of the Thai national shooting team, under extreme stress, used a gun to shoot his wife and 7-year-old daughter to death before taking his own life at his home in the Bangkok Noi area.
According to Thai News Agency, forensic doctors, along with forensic officers and investigators from the Bangkok Noi Police Station, inspected a four-story commercial building in the area after receiving a report of a fatal shooting inside. Preliminary findings indicate that the building belonged to a former instructor at the Royal Police Cadet Academy in Sam Phran, who died last month. On the third floor, authorities discovered three deceased individuals: a seven-year-old girl, her mother Sirirak, and Kanonthorn, a former national tactical shooting athlete and son of the late instructor. Each had a single gunshot wound to the head, and a 9mm pistol was found beside Kanonthorn's body.
The housekeeper who discovered the bodies stated that she did not live in the house, which was occupied only by Kanonthorn. The owner of the house, Mr. Pol. Col. Udomsak, had passed away on September 26th. The housekeeper reported that Kanonthorn had been stressed and sleep-deprived following his father's death. She mentioned not noticing anything unusual when she returned home around 11:00 PM.
A nearby neighbor revealed that he was familiar with the former police officer who owned the house but had little interaction with his sons. He often heard gunshots in the past but noted their absence after the officer's death. Kanonthorn was known as a gun enthusiast who frequently had conflicts with neighbors, which were previously mediated by his father. The neighbors, out of respect for the former officer, held no grudges against Kanonthorn, but since the officer's death, they have avoided contact to prevent conflict.
Following the incident, police and relatives of the deceased requested that the media refrain from recording images to protect the family's privacy. It was reported that Kanonthorn possessed significant expertise in firearms, having served as a member of the Thai national shooting team.
