Fire razes 300 kiosks in Bandung

Bandung, W Java, (ANTARA News) – A fire ravaged some 300 kiosks at the Gedebage market in the West Java provincial capital of Bandung on Monday evening.

Based on the preliminary report the fire originated from the open air burning of trash. The fire then spread quickly to nearby kiosks.

Spokesman for the Bandung Fire and Disaster Mitigation Department Ahmad Kurnia Saputra could not ascertain how the fire could spread to the kiosks.

The police are looking into the cause of the fire, he said.

At least 12 fire trucks have been sent to the scene to put out the blaze which broke out at 04.55 p.m. local time.
