Faculty of Animal Husbandry is ready to welcome the 3rd APIS

The 2017 Strategic target of Faculty of Animal Husbandry of University of Brawijaya is achieving ASEAN quality and competitiveness. A number of activities have conducted to realize the target, such as organizing an international seminar so-called Animal Production International Seminar (APIS). The event is an international level seminar in animal husbandry area which routinely held once every three years.

APIS 2016 is the third year implementation that coincides with the 3rd ASEAN Regional Conference on Animal Production (ARCAP). ARCAP is a similar event held by Fakulti Pertanian Jabatan Sains Haiwan, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). Thus both committees have collaboration to improve the participants’ interest.

The 3rd APIS and the 3rd ARCAP will be conducted in three days (19-21/Oct/2016) in Hotel Orchid, Batu. Till recent, totally around 200 research titles that divided into eight topics has registered. Participants are domestics and foreigners such as Bogor Institute of Agriculture, Gadjah Mada University, Hasanuddin University, Diponegoro University, Jenderal Soedirman University, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Pakistan, Iraq, Australia, India, Thailand, Taiwan and Malaysia. Meanwhile the keynote speakers are including professors at colleges of India, Thailand, Taiwan, Malaysia and Indonesia.

According to the Executive Secretary, Aswah Ridhowi, S.Pt., MP., M.Sc, the objectives in organizing the event is a promotion arena for Faculty of Animal Husbandry and University of Brawijaya worldwide. “And so people will be interested in pursuing study at University of Brawijaya, especially Department of Animal Husbandry,” he said.

The event obtains communities’ positive response, proven from seminar participants’ interest which increasing from year to year.

In the last day, the seminar will be filled in with field trip to several cattle industries in Batu and Pujon. In addition, there is also a selected tourism like Bromo Mountain, Bali and exploring the beauty of Batu City.
