Dome robot of UMM wins at robot contest of Indonesian IV

Malang, E Java (ANTARA News) – The Dome Robot of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) won the Indonesia Fire Robot Contest (KRPAI) of the Indonesian Robot Contest (KRI) Region IV category, which took place at Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta (UM).

Dome Robot of UMM successfully won the title after showing high accuracy and swiftness of time when aiming fire. In two rounds, Dome Robot of UMM raced away with the first rank, leaving behind two teams from the Electronic Engineering Polytechnic of Surabaya (PENS) and Ten November Institute of Technology (ITS) Surabaya in KRPAI category.

“After the success in KRI Region IV at UMY, which ended yesterday (July 13), we are preparing ourselves to be excellent in National KRI 2018,” Dome UMM Robotics Team Leader, Alfan Achmadillah Fauzi, stated on Saturday.

He explained that his team had been undergoing training for three months and was very confident about reaching the national level.

Through the spirit of its predecessors, who have achieved international achievement, a team of three students of Electrical Engineering (TE), Faculty of Engineering (FT) of UMM has been preparing for the KRPAI KRI Region IV contest, which took place in Sportarium of UMY.

“We are optimistic that our research in the past few months will make our team the national champions. We are very grateful for this achievement, for which confidence and enthusiasm are the keys,” he conveyed.

After two rounds, and continuing at the top of the standings until the end of the competition (July 13), UMM Robotics team, consisting of Alfan Achmadillah Fauzi (chairman), Ken Dedes Maria Kunthy (technician), and Rochmansyah (member), will compete in the final national round.

After winning the Region IV title, the UMM Dome Robot will represent Indonesia in the International Robot Contest in the United States.

The 18th KRI is a national competition which is divided into five divisions, namely Indonesian Robot Abu Contest (KRAI), Indonesian Fire Robot Contest (KRPAI), Indonesian Humanoid Football Robot Contest (KRSBI), Indonesian Wheeled Football Robot Contest (KRSBI), and Indonesian Dance Robot Contest (KRSTI).

A total of 91 teams from 48 universities in Indonesia competed in this prestigious event. “We will prepare ourselves better to be able to defend the national champion title while representing Indonesia in the international event held in the US later,” he added.
