Commission D Supports Government’s Plan to Install Additional SWROs

Jakarta Council (DPRD) Commission D supports Jakarta Government to install three sea water reverse osmosis (SWRO) units in Lancang Island, Tidung Island, and Kelapa Island of Thousand Islands Regency.

For information, Jakarta Government plans to provide clean water supply in three islands of Thousand Islands by installing SWRO units with capacity 1.5 liters per second in Lancang Island, 3 liters per second in Tidung Island, and 5 liters per second in Kelapa Island.

“We are really supporting this plan. Moreover, its distribution could reach Harapan Island,” mentioned Neneng Hasanah, member of Commission D, Thursday (3/14).

According to her, three SWRO units can overcome clean water crisis in Thousand Islands, especially in those three islands.

Other Commission D member, Yusriah Dzinnun also agreed with this plan. She assessed, residents in Lancang Island, Tidung Island, and Kelapa Island are still depending on other islands to get clean water supply. Thus she considered SWRO installation can fulfill residents needs of clean water.

“We hope government can start this project massively and continuously thus they can fulfill Thousand Island residents needs of clean water needs,” she stated.
