C Java’s GT Kalikangkung ready to handle Eid traffic: JSB

PT Jasamarga Semarang Batang (JSB), a subsidiary of state highway operator PT Jasa Marga, has assured that the Kalikangkung Toll Gate (GT) is ready to handle the Eid exodus traffic and return flow.

PT JSB president director Prajudi said the company has prepared several measures for dealing with the increase in traffic volume, especially at GT Kalikangkung.

“(This has involved) By ensuring the functions of seven transaction substations and seven oblique approach booths (OAB) at exit substations and four transaction substations and four OABs operating at entrance substations,” he informed here on Friday.

For the implementation of the one-way traffic scheme, PT JSB has prepared 10 transaction substations, seven OABs, and four mobile readers (MR), he said.

In addition to the equipment, operational officers have also been deployed at the toll gates to handle any obstacles at the time of transactions, he added.

Prajudi also provided details on the maintenance of toll equipment during the tenth to fourth day leading to Eid, when traffic flow increased.

“With good maintenance of toll equipment and the addition of standby operational officers, all facilities and infrastructure at GT Kalikangkung are functioning properly and optimally. If there are obstacles during the transaction, our officers will be ready to help so that the flow of homecoming traffic can run smoothly,” he explained.

From April 22–27, 2022, at least 195,214 vehicles left for Semarang through the Kalikangkung Toll Gate, an increase of 36.5 percent from the normal traffic recorded in 2021, which was pegged at 142,997 vehicles.

Given the high volume of traffic arriving from the western region to Central Java, PT JSB has prepared measures to support the smoothness of transaction services, especially in GT Kalikangkung.
