BPJPH holds halal product certification training for 20.000 assistants

We hope it will become an effective and efficient strategy to produce (quality) assistants for the halal product (certification) process.

Jakarta The Religious Affairs Ministry’s Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) conducted training on halal product certification facilitation for over 20 thousand Islamic religious assistants on February 9-11, 2023.

“This training is held simultaneously and massively. This is one of our breakthroughs to expedite the achievement of one million free halal certifications (in 2023),” Head of BPJPH Aqil Irham noted in a statement received on Saturday.

Irham expected that following the completion of training, the assistants, along with the Halal Product Assistance Institute and the BPJPH, can immediately assist business actors keen to get their halal products certified.

In future, the Religious Affairs Ministry will continue to strive to improve halal product guarantee services, including implementing other coaching activities for prospective halal product certification assistants, the BPJPH head stated.

“The training we are conducting this time is a pilot project. We hope it will become an effective and efficient strategy to produce (quality) assistants for the halal product (certification) process,” he remarked.

Head of the Center for Development and Monitoring of the BPJPH, Dzikro, stated that this halal product certification assistance training combined three online learning methods.

“We use Zoom meeting, YouTube live streaming, as well as the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) through the SiHALAL (Halal Information System) application,” he remarked.

Meanwhile, the training material was delivered using the lecture, self-study, and mentoring method. In addition, the BPJPH has prepared tutorial videos that can be replayed by the participants.

Dzikro stated that information on government policies and regulations regarding halal product assurance, Islamic sharia provisions on halal products, Halal Product Assurance System (SJPH) Manuals, halal product types, Indonesian Standard Industrial Classification (KBLI), as well as documentation and digitalization assistance were also disseminated to the training participants.

“We also conduct pre-tests and post-tests to know whether the participants have understood the training material,” he remarked.

The government has targeted to issue halal certifications for 10 million products by 2024 in pursuit of becoming the leading halal food and beverage producer in the world.

The BPJPH recorded that during the 2019-2022 period, a total of 864,014 products received halal certification.
