Bogor offers Jokowi-Obama track for marathon race

Jakarta (ANTARA News) – Bogor city in Indonesias province of West Java has offered the running track passed by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and the United States 44th President Barack Obama during the latters visit to the city for the marathon race on Sunday.

The Botanical Garden in Bogor (where President Jokowi and Obama passed by recently) will become the starting point for the 2017 marathon event which will be conducted on Sunday (June 9), according to Bogor mayor, Bima Arya in the city on Thursday.

President Jokowi and Obama walked around and held a meeting in the Botanical Garden during the latters visit several days ago.

Bima Arya further said that around 3,500 runners among others from abroad will participate in the marathon race which will be carried out at predawn, Sunday.

The Bogor Botanical Garden and Palace area has become icon in the running race competition.

“Lets come to Bogor. We will continue to prepare ourselves. Our hope there will be many running championships take place in Bogor City,” the mayor pointed out.

The running race has four categories, namely Full marathon of 42,195 kilometers, half marathon 21.1 kilometers, 10 K and 5 K that will start at 01.00 predawn.
