BNN urges Jakarta gubernatorial candidates to run anti-drug campaigns

The National Anti-Narcotics Agency (BNN) has urged Jakartas gubernatorial and vice gubernatorial candidates to include anti-drug issues in their campaigns.

“We know, Jakarta ranks number one in national drug abuse. If a city ranks at the top, then all should be aware that there are still many drug users (in Jakarta),” the head of BNN’s Public Relations Department, Senior Commissioner Slamet Pribadi stated here on Thursday.

According to him, the (candidates) in their vision and mission, should incorporate the matter of drug prevention and drug eradication, in the model of the campaigns.

Slamet further said combating drugs is very important. Jakarta is a barometer for the nation and also an indicator of about 60 percent of the drug money is circulated in Jakarta, he noted.

“Automatically, the purchase of drugs in Jakarta is very high,” he remarked.
