Asian Games (baseball) – several home runs expected in South Korea-Japan final round

Jakarta (ANTARA News) – Several home runs are expected during the baseball final round between South Korea and Japan at the 2018 Asian Games held at the Baseball Field, Senayan, here on Saturday.

The estimation is based on statistical data indicating that the two teams have recorded several points from home run shots compared to other teams.

The South Korean baseball team scored 10 home runs, while Japans team recorded eight.

At the 2018 Asian Games, each team has “Home Run King.”

Of the 10 home runs recorded by the South Korea team, four were made by Hwang Jeugyun. Meanwhile, Japan also has an ace for a home run Tamura, who also recorded four home runs.

The Japanese baseball national team challenges South Korea, which is named as the defending Asian Games champion, in the final.

After defeating Chinese Taipei on Friday (Aug 31), with a score of 5-0, Japan advanced to the final round to clash against South Korea.

Meanwhile, Chinese Taipei will face China to win the bronze medal. In the medal race group, South Korea, Japan, and Chinese Taipei earned the same points, with two wins and one defeat.

However, in the head-to-head or the best score, obtained from each teams games, South Korea and Japan are the top two in the Super Round, which means both teams get tickets to the final round.

The final round will be held on Saturday at the Baseball Field, Senayan, Jakarta. The bronze medal match between Chinese Taipei and China is scheduled at 11 a.m. local time, while the final round between South Korea and Japan will begin at 4 p.m. local time at the same venue.

Earlier, in the Super Round, South Korea had defeated Japan, with a score of 5-1.
