Jakarta (ANTARA News) – Incumbent governor of Jakarta Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) has called on all supporters to remain solid following the results of the vote on Wednesday that may lead to a run-off.

“We wish all political parties that have supported us, volunteers and supporters to remain solid and continue the fight to win the election,” he said at a press conference here on Wednesday at the residence of Megawati Soekarnoputri, the general chairperson of the Indonesia Democratic Party Struggle (PDIP).

Megawati has nominated Ahok as candidate in the gubernatorial election with PDIP cadre Djarot Sjaiful Hidayat who is also vice governor as his running mate.

“We are grateful we have hard working supporters. Thank you very much but the struggle is not yet finished,” he said.

Ahok and Djarot Saiful Hidayat won the vote on Wednesday according to quick counts by three survey institutes.

“We thank the coalition of parties – PDIP, Golkar, Nasdem and Hanura – that have supported us,” he said.
