33,400 travelers depart from Jakarta stations day after Eid: KAI

At least 33,400 travelers departed from Pasar Senen and Gambir stations in Central Jakarta on the day after Eid al-Fitr 1443 Hijr, that is Tuesday, state railway firm PT Kereta Api Indonesia (PT KAI) informed.

Twenty-eight trains were operated from Pasar Senen Station, with two being additional trains, PT KAI’s Jakarta Operational Area 1 public relations head, Eva Chairunisa, said here on Tuesday.

“The volume of passengers departing (from Pasar Senen Station) was 18,600, or 91 percent of the total 20,500 available seats,” Chairunisa told ANTARA.

Meanwhile, 35 trains were operated from Gambir Station, with eight being additional trains, she informed. Furthermore, the number of train passengers using Gambir station reached 14,800, or 87 percent of the 17,200 available seats, she said.

“The data is only the number of passengers departing from Gambir and Pasar Senen stations,” she added.

Prospective train passengers who want to book tickets for homecoming can choose an alternative date that is still close to Eid, such as between May 4 and May 7, 2022, Chairunisa advised.

Based on data recorded as of May 3, tickets are still available although the total number of bookings has continued to increase to cover 40–75 percent of the seats on average, she informed.

Meanwhile, 818,926 train seats were offered during the Eid period, or from April 22 to May 13.

During that period, 63 long-distance trips per day were operated from Jakarta Operational Area 1, with average capacity pegged at 37,200 seats (16,700 from Gambir Station and 20,500 from Pasar Senen Station).

“In accordance with the government’s rules, the capacity for long-distance trains is 100 percent,” Chairunisa said.
