700,000 vehicles leave Jakarta through Soetta Airport on D-1 of Eid

State-owned toll operator PT Jasa Marga has recorded a total of 763,864 vehicles leaving Jakarta via Soekarno-Hatta Airport as of D-1 of Eid al-Fitr 1443 Hijriah this year.

“From D-10 to D-1 of Eid Al-Fitr in the period from April 22–May 1, 2022, Jasamarga Metropolitan Tollroad recorded a total of 763,864 vehicles leaving Jakarta for Soetta Airport (Soekarno-Hatta Airport), an increase of 5.49 percent compared to traffic volume during the new normal transactions (November 2021), namely 724,138 transaction vehicles,” Head of the Marketing and Communication Department of Jasamarga Metropolitan Tollroad Irra Susiyanti informed in a written statement here on Monday.

The traffic was distributed between two toll gates (GTs). The first was GT Cengkareng on Prof. Dr. Ir. Soedijatmo street, which recorded a traffic volume of 603,061 vehicles, a 6.36-percent increase compared to the new normal traffic of 566,989 vehicles.

The second was GT Benda Utama 2 Kunciran-Cengkareng Toll Road, which recorded 160,803 vehicles, or a 2.33-percent increase in transaction traffic volume compared to the new normal transaction traffic volume of 157,149 vehicles.

According to Jasamarga Metropolitan Tollroad, as many as 321,459 vehicles exited Bandung to go to Rancaekek, Garut, and surrounding areas through the Cileunyi Toll Gate. The transaction traffic volume showed an increase of 9.18 percent compared to the new normal traffic of 294,443 vehicles.

The volume of transaction traffic from the opposite direction, or to Bandung via GT Cileunyi, was recorded at 272,112 vehicles, a decline of 3.08 percent compared to the new normal traffic of 280,753 vehicles.

Jasa Marga urged people to prepare before traveling by checking the condition of their vehicle, the driver, the fuel and e-toll balance, as well as traffic engineering schedules, and following the directions issued by officers on the field.

Jasa Marga also asked toll road users to use the same e-toll for payments on toll roads with a closed transaction system, such as at the Cipularang and Padaleunyi toll roads and the JORR II Toll Road. Thus, only one e-toll would need to be used for transactions at the entrance and exit toll gates.

Grave visit tradition enlivens Eid celebrations in Banyumas

The tradition of grave visit enlivened celebrations of Eid al-Fitr 1443 Hijr by the community in Banyumas district, Central Java.

Based on ANTARA’s observation at Tanjung Nirwana National Heroes Cemetery, Banyumas, local people visited the cemetery from morning until noon after Eid prayers.

One of the visitors, Yoga Hadi (71), a resident of Dokter Angka, Purwokerto, Banyumas, said that he and his family visited the grave of every Eid al-Fitr.

“The grave visit is one of the permanent traditions that we do every Eid celebration. It happens that our father is buried in Tanjung Nirwana National Heroes Cemetery, so (we) often come here,” Hadi added.

This year, the cemetery was quite crowded compared to the previous year, he noted.

“It is quite crowded but not dense; our family can still keep our distance because the area is also large and other visitors are orderly and maintain the health protocols,” he said.

Meanwhile, based on an observation, some other visitors were also seen at the public cemetery in Karangtengah village.

Hally Apri (35), an exodus traveler from Pontianak, West Kalimantan, said she always visits the cemetery at Karangtengah village during her homecoming journey to Banyumas.

“Because (I) did not go home last year, then this year coincides with the moment of homecoming, then I took the time to visit Karangtengah village cemetery, our eyang (grandparent) was buried here,” she added.

Apri said that she and her family were committed to maintaining the health protocols while visiting the grave.

“We wear masks and keep our distance; we have also completed vaccinations until the third dose (booster). In addition, we have implemented the health protocol since Eid prayers this morning,” she explained.

Apri said that she is very grateful because she could leave for homecoming from Pontianak, West Kalimantan to Purwokerto, Banyumas district, Central Java, for Eid al-Fitr this year.

2022 Eid homecoming flow running smoothly: President

President Joko Widodo has assured that the 2022 Eid homecoming flow in various Indonesian regions has been smooth.

“I see that everything is going well,” Widodo said after meeting Yogyakarta Governor Sultan Hamengkubuwono X at the Yogyakarta Palace here on Monday.

Regarding the long queues of vehicles at Merak Port, Banten, the President said that the volume of vehicles exceeded the capacity of the docks and ships.

However, he assured that the long queues could be reduced by increasing the number of ships and docks.

“The ships have been increased from 30 to 50, but it is not enough,” the President noted.

According to the President, the 2022 Eid homecoming flow was joined by around 85.5 million people traveling on 23 million four-wheeled vehicles and 17 million motorcycles.

“The numbers are really very large, so I urge you to come back early. Do not return on Saturday and Sunday, so there will be traffic jams, especially on toll roads and national roads,” he said.

At least 1,757,837 vehicles left Greater Jakarta area during the period from April 22 to May 1, 2022, or a day before Eid al-Fitr, state-owned toll enterprise PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk reported earlier.

“The total number of vehicles that left Greater Jakarta increased by 18.6 percent as compared to the normal period of November 2021, with the total of 1,482,047 vehicles,” he said.

The vehicles leaving Greater Jakarta were headed in three directions.

The majority of them, or 945 thousand vehicles (53.8 percent), headed east, namely to Trans Java and Bandung; at least 484,653 vehicles (27.6 percent) headed west, namely to Merak; meanwhile, 328,184 vehicles (18.7 percent) headed south, namely to Puncak.
