Aviation turbine fuel consumption up 11.9 percent

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Aviation turbine (avtur) fuel consumption in and around Jakarta rose 11.9 percent during the peak of Eid-al-Fttr return flow on Saturday (June 8).

Data from state oil and gas firm PT Pertamina made available to Antara on Sunday showed Soekarno-Hatta Airport west of Jakarta recorded the highest increase in avtur consumption.

The airport saw avtur consumption rising 12.6 percent or 868.14 kiloliters to 6,890 kiloliters compared to the average daily consumption, manager of communication relations and corporate social responsibility (CSR ) unit of PT Pertamina Marketing Operation Region (MOR) III Dewi Sri Utami said,

Avtur consumption at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in East Jakarta increased 11.8 percent.

However, avtur consumption at Husein Sastranegara Airport in Bandung, West Java, Pondok Cabe,Airport in South Tangerang, Banten and Kertajati International Airport in Majalengka, West Java, declined.

“The increase in avtur consumption has to do with the frequency of flights, which are one of homeward holidaymakers’ choices. We always keep supplies because today is still the peak of Eid-al-Fitr return flow and employees will return to work tomorrow after Eid-al-Fitr collective leave ends,”she said.

Hundreds of Indonesians enliven ied-al-fitr gathering in Sweden

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Hundreds of Indonesian citizens, diaspora and students studying in Sweden gathered in the Eid-Al-Fitr (halal bihalal) 1440 H event held at the Indonesian Ambassador’s House in Lidingo, Stockholm, Saturday (June 8)

The Indonesian Embassy’s Third Secretary for Information and Socio-Culture in Stockholm, Fajar Primananda said to Antara, the halal bihalal week was filled with mutual friendship and also provided an entertainment stage complete with band instruments.

Meanwhile, Indonesian Ambassador to Sweden Bagas Hapsoro expressed his gratitude to the Indonesian citizens for their presence. “Thankful that Ramadhan has taught us to keep on piety and fear of Allah (Almighty God) and that the spirit of forgiveness must be maintained everyday,” he said.

The bihalal halal is filled with an entertainment stage complete with band instruments. “It’s really nice to have a halal bihalal gathering and come to the stage”, said Victoria, a member of the Indonesian Students Association who sang the Bohemian Rhapsody song from Queen.

The blazing afternoon did not prevent the attendees from carrying Indonesian dances along with live musics. On the occasion, Ambassador Bagas Hapsoro also played keyboards and guitars with the band. Present among the attendees were Monica Dominique, a famous Swedish pianist who also played music with the ambassador.

Indonesian citizens in Sweden have performed Ied-Al- Fitr prayers on Tuesday, 4 June. While bihalal halal activities were held on Saturday (June 8) to accommodate holidays and so that more Indonesian citizens could attend.

Boat capsizes, killing one in Lengkuas Island

Tanjungpandan, Belitung (ANTARA) – A boat carrying tens of tourists capsized in the waters off Lengkuas Island in Belitung District, Bangka Belitung Province on Saturday (June 8), killing one person.

One passenger was pronounced dead and tens of others survived the accident, Chief of the Belitung Police Resort Adjunct Senior Commissioner Yuhdis Wibisana said in Tanjungpandan, Bangka Belitung on Sunday.

“The boat capsized and sank about five minutes after it sailed to Lengkuas Island,” he said.

The passenger identified as Rozali from Air Saga village, Tanjung Pandang Sub-district, Belitung District was killed since he was late to receive aid, he said.

The other passengers were successfully rescued with some of them sustaining injuries.

“Four passengers are receiving medical treatment at Marsidi Judono Regional General Hospital, while the others were allowed to return home,” he said.

The four passengers who received medical treatment are identified as Cici Herliyani (34) of Air Saga Tanjung Pandan), Kienta (2,5) of Tanjung Binga Village, Tanjung Pandan, Meris Yuniarti (16) of Air Saga Village, and Dea (16) of Perawas Village, Tanjung Pandan.
